macCurrent is a product of Conduit Technologies, LLC.
Information processed locally
macCurrent scans installed applications and command-line tools on your Mac. Local inventory may include app names, bundle identifiers, versions, builds, source type, signing status, update status, update URLs, file size, and scan timestamps. This inventory is stored on your Mac and is used to show update status inside the app.
Hosted catalog lookups
When hosted catalog lookup is enabled, macCurrent sends bundle identifiers, Mac architecture, and macOS version to the macCurrent catalog service so it can return compatible update metadata. Normal catalog lookups do not require local app paths, local usernames, payment details, or device identifiers.
Optional manual app reports
If manual app contribution is enabled, macCurrent may send sanitized metadata for apps it cannot identify or safely update automatically. Reports may include app name, bundle identifier, version, build, team identifier, source type, update channel, public appcast or update metadata, minimum macOS version, architectures, and signing status. Manual app reports intentionally exclude local app paths, local usernames, and device identifiers.
App and plug-in support requests
When you explicitly request support for an app or audio plug-in, macCurrent sends the item’s name, bundle and publisher identities, installed version and build, signing status, architectures, source checks, and any source hints or reviewer note you provide. Plug-in requests also include format coverage evidence. You can optionally enter a name and email address for follow-up. Contact details are kept privately with your request receipt and are not included in public issues, shared review status, or usage analytics. Requests do not automatically include local paths, your Mac username, a device identifier, logs, screenshots, or other installed items.
Optional Usage Analytics
Usage analytics is off by default and independent from hosted catalog lookup. If you explicitly enable Usage Analytics in first-run setup or Settings, macCurrent sends a random per-install identifier with launch and update outcome details such as app version, build number, release channel, macOS version, Mac architecture, broad update source, operation type, status, duration, and failure code. These diagnostics do not include your app inventory, app names, bundle identifiers, app paths, local usernames, serial numbers, hardware IDs, or raw issue details.
Optional RC issue reports
If you submit an issue from the app, macCurrent sends the text you provide, the issue type, expected and actual behavior when supplied, and any screenshots you choose to attach. You may optionally provide your name and email address so we can contact you for more information about that issue. These contact details are stored privately with the report, are not included in public GitHub issues or analytics, and are not used for marketing. You can submit without providing either field. If you include diagnostics, the report may also include macCurrent version and build, release channel, macOS version, Mac architecture, app counts, update counts, last scan and update-check timestamps, selected app metadata, and recent update-decision log entries. The app keeps a bounded local record of scan stages even when Debug Mode is off. If you also include recent activity, a report can include the last three scan traces and sanitized summaries of up to three macCurrent crash reports from the past seven days. Crash summaries contain exception types and relevant stack frames with binary identifiers for diagnosis; they exclude full crash files, device identifiers, file paths, and other applications’ crash reports. Use Copy Diagnostics to review the information before submitting, or turn off recent activity to exclude scan traces and crash summaries.
Following your requests
When you submit an issue or support request, macCurrent saves a private tracking receipt on your Mac. An account, name, and email address are not required for tracking. The app uses the receipt to retrieve progress updates while it is running. You can turn off automatic request checks in Settings and refresh requests yourself. macOS notification banners are a separate choice and use a general message by default; request details appear inside the app.
New screenshot uploads have embedded metadata and original filenames removed. Please review the image itself before sending it: text and other private information visible in the screenshot are still part of your report. Screenshots remain in private storage and require authorized review access. Shared app support messages do not include your contact details or private replies.
Downloads, updates, and third-party tools
macCurrent may open vendor download URLs, vendor update pages, the Mac App Store, Microsoft AutoUpdate, Homebrew, or mas depending on the update source. Those third-party services are controlled by their own publishers and may process requests under their own policies.
When you click the macCurrent installer link on this website, macCurrent uses a first-party anonymous cookie to count unique download browsers. Download click records may include the time of the click, a hashed visitor cookie value, whether a new visitor cookie was created, the download channel, the download URL, referral origin, campaign parameters, country or data center information provided by Cloudflare, and a hashed user agent. The raw visitor cookie value and raw user agent string are not stored.
Website analytics
The macCurrent website uses first-party, privacy-scoped analytics, PostHog product analytics, and Ahrefs site analytics to understand page traffic, download interest, website errors, performance, search visibility, and site health. Website events may include the page path without query strings, page title, referral origin, campaign parameters, browser language, viewport size, approximate page load duration, button or link category, browser error category, country or data center information provided by Cloudflare or PostHog, and browser/device metadata. A browser-generated random visitor identifier is used to count repeat visits and is hashed before storage in macCurrent's first-party analytics tables. The first-party analytics script respects browser Do Not Track signals when they are set and strips query strings before sending URL fields to PostHog.
Release notifications
If you use the "Notify me" form on this website, Conduit Technologies, LLC stores the email address you enter, the page you signed up from, and coarse attribution such as UTM campaign tags and the country reported by the network edge. This information is used for one purpose: sending a single announcement when macCurrent 1.0 ships. It is not shared beyond the service providers that host the signup service and is not used for anything else. To be removed from the list before the announcement goes out, contact us through the Contact Us page and the address will be deleted.
Website and service logs
The macCurrent website and hosted API run through infrastructure providers such as Cloudflare and Supabase. These providers may process standard network and security log data, such as IP address, user agent, request path, timestamps, and error details, to deliver the service, prevent abuse, debug issues, and protect the site and API.
How information is used
Information is used to provide catalog lookup results, improve app detection, review RC feedback, troubleshoot update failures, protect the service from abuse, maintain release infrastructure, and comply with legal obligations.
How information is shared
Conduit Technologies, LLC does not sell personal information and does not use advertising trackers. Information may be processed by service providers that support hosting, storage, security, release delivery, download analytics, website analytics, SEO monitoring, and RC triage. RC issue reports may be copied into Conduit Technologies, LLC's internal issue-tracking workflow for review and follow-up.
Your choices
You can disable hosted catalog lookup and manual app contribution in Settings. Usage Analytics is opt-in, independent from hosted catalog lookup, and can be turned off in Settings. You can submit RC issues without screenshots and without diagnostics. You can disable update notifications in Settings or through macOS notification settings. The first-party website analytics script respects browser Do Not Track signals when they are set.
Retention
Local app inventory and preferences remain on your Mac until you remove them or uninstall macCurrent using the app's uninstall flow. For issue reports submitted under this policy, private report text, diagnostics, screenshots, and optional contact details are scheduled for removal 90 days after resolution. Optional contact details on new support-request receipts follow the same period after resolution; optional follow-up contacts for developer-change evidence are kept for up to 180 days. Minimal request status and private receipt verification remain so you can continue following the request. Earlier submissions and receipts are preserved; you can request private-information removal from the request view. Shared, reviewed app-support information may remain available to other users. Security logs and backups follow the infrastructure providers’ retention settings; removal from active storage does not instantly remove an existing backup or a copy someone previously exported.
Removing private submission information
Use “Remove my private information” in a tracked request to ask us to remove its contact details and private report content, including screenshots and tracked internal review copies. This does not delete other users’ shared support requests or prevent you from tracking the request’s status. Requests that require a reviewer to check follow-up copies remain pending until that review is complete. If the tracking receipt is unavailable, contact us through the Contact Us page for help. Removing local history alone does not remove a server-side report.
Children
macCurrent is not directed to children and is intended for people who manage software on their own Mac or on systems they are authorized to use.
Changes
This policy may be updated as macCurrent changes. The effective date will be updated when material changes are made.
